Reflection:

Question #1: Why do societies adopt dictatorships and single-party states?

Many societies adopt and accept dictatorships and single-party states at a time of crisis, or at a time when change is need to be made. For example Atatürk showed his people that the ways of the Ottoman empire was holding them back as a country form developing and advancing with the rest of the world, and that if they kept on following the Ottoman practice they will be held back in time. He showed them that if they follow western and european countries then they would be a leading country in the world, like western countries the faster they advanced the more ahead they are then the rest of the world. Also a time of crisis is a dictators opportunity to take power, people are desperate to find a way to solve the crisis at hand and when any opportunity that is convincing enough showing them a "better life" is presented to them they take it with ease. This is why dictatorships or single-party states are most likely accepted or adopted my societies.
